Around mid-March I got a hold of some nice black art paper and my brain decided to go on a bender and do something more horror oriented. Somehow, after some bouncing around, it clung onto the idea of a horrifying circus and the tortured (and sometimes evil)  souls who perform in it. Thus, Cirque du Nuit (The Night Circus) was conceived. The first piece turned out to be a  zombie-like mummer, skin grey against his colorful costume. Other images that have come to mind are shapeshifting lion tamers, evil clowns, creepy sideshow freaks, demonic carousel horses, skull juggling cannibals and a host of other common carnival/circus themes. I have no idea just how many of these ideas will ever see paper, but I'm hoping to at least do a few. There's no telling just how freaky this could get....

The Mummer should be available for purchase at Apollocon in June if not before then throught the site.
