Via Colori 2006 Day 1

This was my first experience with street painting and I have to say it was awesome! While I finished my square today, I'll still be going tomorrow to hand out cards and sit beside it and doodle and show some of the prints and things I have to folks. I want to do that because I was giving out a LOT of cards and getting very positive response to the image I made. I'm not totally happy with it, but it's not awful considering I had no idea what I was making even as I started laying down color. LOL

Some people out there had their squares planned out to a tee with gridded images and measurements, overlays, blueprints and other tools to exactly duplicate an image. I don't think there were too many that were just working off the top of their head out there. Below are a couple of slideshows showing just a few of the interesting images in progress. I have a lot more film in two disposable cameras and will be shooting more digital images tomorrow as some of the ones I shot today are completed.

EDIT: Apparently the slideshows don't work here, so here are some of the photos! JEB

Here's my square. It's not my best work. But, considering this was the very first time I've done this and I actually had to learn the technique I used on my own, I'm happy  with it.

A Wizard of Oz themed square.

Rawr! I LOVE this lion. He's a feast for the eyes!

Your square looked great!!

From Jolie: Thanks! It isn't the best tribal I've ever done. It's a lot harder working on that scale and figuring out what size things need to be. If I'd had a plan and been able to grid it out like most of the other artists were doing it might have looked better. But I went in thinking I might do a mermaid and ended up with that. LMAO
